beIng a part of another world' And then at last San Francrsco We spent the weekend there and Ill never forget those htlls so steep-and angular Iust lIke a roller coaster and the bunldmgs so clean and pale rose to deep red and all agarnst the most beautIful blue background The Water was as smooth as glass and so peaceful-exactly as one would prcture the PHCIIIC It was Iust dusk when I saw the first pale lIght of the outlymg Islands Altogether the HHWHIIHH group consists of erght Islands It seemed so funny to see land agaIn after so much water These lIttle pancake lIke structures looked so unreal' Our plane landed at Oahu the mann Island and after prckrng up our baggage we drove to the Royal Hawauan Hotel where we spent the next two weeks and what a place to spend two weeks In' The possnble to descrIbe the CXOIIC profusron of colors so many shades and hues and each one drfferent Thats the way the whole Island struck me-dIFferent' From Walklkl Beach to mahImahI fIfS a fishj' Walklkl IS a long narrow strtp of gleamIng whIte sand bordered by swaynng palm trees and gorgeous hotels on one sIde and the cool blue waters of the PacIfic on the other A group of natIve HHWZIIHDS on the beach' The first tIme I trred surf boardmg I got up as far as my knees and then decrded that was far enough for me-I dont see how people can stand on those thInt,s Theres a steep clIff on the Wlndwafd srde of the Island known as the Poll where would be sutcrdes used to jump off It was Ideal because the wInd would prck them up and blow them back up agatn From any place on the Island you can see Dramond Head ThlS InactIve volcano towers above everythIng There are only a few actIve volcanos left In HawaII today thats why I decrded to take the chance and go Thursday I had a pleasant SUIPIISCLIWCIVC shIps enroute to japan docked at Pearl Harbor That meant a mere 15000 sallors were wanderrng around Walkrkr I got around to meeting only about 12000 but that was a start Dont let me
