GETTING IT TOGETHER There were many fads which distinguished the class of 1982. Designer jeans, sporting famous names such as Gloria Vanderbilt, Cal- vin Kle in, Jordache and Bon Jour were in. Usually they were accompanied by “candies” or “slides”, high-heeled open-toed shoes. Bag- gies, with their emphasis on the hips and their skinny legs were also in. Knickers and zipper pants were also popular for a time. Concert t- shirts could be seen on both boys and girls and everyone had at least one pair of Levis. Some kids opted for the preppie look which was characterized by the Izod alligator and cheenos, but also included Bermuda bags, Ma- dras pants, loafers and button-down Oxford cloth shirts. Girls started to French braid their hair and some of the more daring ones even added a pink or blue patch to the color of their hair. Hard to forget because they were so striking in appearance were those who dressed “punk”. All in all, the fashion fads of our senior year helped to distinguish us and make us special . 14

GETTING STARTED First run bus just came round I don’t hear much of the usual sound. It isn’t long before they all start coming. When the late bell rings, I can see them all running. Must get to homeroom on time. If I don’t, the faults all mine. Can’t stay after, 1 have to work If I’m not there they’ll go berserk. So here we are once more. Though closer than before To the gala of graduation. That mighty day of Jubilation. But now is not the time for fun. Must finish that essay before block one.
