Can We Say Good-Bye ( Our Freshman Year started in seventy-six. The school was so big, with so many cliques. We rushed and ran and dashed for the bus. If we missed it, we made such a fuss. It’s “A ” lunch and it‘s only about ten! But then “D” lunch and no food again! We hid behind books when we skipped class. Then worried soon after that we might not pass. The school just seemed to be really so bleak. It was so strange at our first Wamp Week. Work wasn ' t done-what would we gain? Then the unannouced quizes were really a pain! We were new freshman and what dirty looks! Running around the school and forgetting books. Sophomore year we tried skipping class. But it seemed we were caught with no pass. The rules got much stricter which we all did hate. Now, no longer easy, to check in late. Supplementaries were never a good sign. Checking the mail to see what we ' d find. Dull and boring seemed that was our fate. But then came the blizzard of sevent-eight! We had never in our lives seen so much snow. When it would stop,we did not know. The snow did more then it should in our views. No school for a week was pretty good news. We laughed when freshman were assigned all their studies. We assembled in the caf. with all of our buddies. As juniors, maturity, or so we did try. Piled up with work, but still we got by. Social dancing in gym was really a dread. From fox trot to disco the gym was co-ed. Now straightening stopped-curls were back. Perms made up for what some of us lacked. Slower to class, now we even would stall. We despised the traffic jams in the hall. We seeked employment in the manor. So we juniors could go to the prom at Lantana. The weather was cool for such a prime night. Suits and gowns were a strange, new sight! Now as seniors, we finally had pride. No more buses were we going to ride. Our last chance came for the S.A. T. After high school what college or job would it be? Yet we could not wait until the time we ' d be gone. Each class seemed to last ever so long. Not ready for graduation-but did we care? The senior prom was so very near. Chateau DeVille, this time, we did hire. All spiffed up in formal attire. So serious was our graduation day. Soon all of us seniors would be on our way. The dread. ..The hate. ..The laugh and cry.
