I Joan Gildea Gerald Williamson To Mr. Clement, our principal, and the faculty who have done so much by contributing their ideas, leadership, and guidance to us in our four years at Braintree High School, we, the Class of 1957, dedicate our yearbook. It is a symbol of all our hard work, sacrifices, and activities in which we have taken part during these years. These contributions have helped by adding to the maturity and knowledge which we will need to become better citizens of our community and more capable leaders of our country. To them we dedicate our final Ihemoir and leave our sincere thanks and appreciation for all they have done for us. We are not looking back, but rather ahead to the greater responsi- bilities which we now endeavor to face. Pondered over “Ou demeurez-vous”, ‘x t’mes y = xy” and “amo, amas, and amat”. Enjoyed a terrific, undefeated football team. Were introduced to the penny barrage of study hall. Helped set the style of wearing dirty “white” bucks. Looked up to the high and mighty seniors, and Had our own first encounter with the Office; Then, as sophomores, we— At last had the distinction of being looked upon as upperclassmen. Ejected our class officers; Bill Cleggett (presi- dent), Mary Babaian (vice-president), Gail MacAllister (secretary), Peggy Sheldon (treas- urer). Watched helplessly as the girls cultivated “D.A.’s” and the boys grew “flattops”. Initiated some of our members into the National Honor Society, Dissected frogs in the ever-present odor of formaldehyde. Enjoyed our first social event — the Sophomore Social, and Bade farewell to Miss Katherine Waldron, the head of the math department; Half way through, we juniors — Adorned our fingers and others’ necks with our rings — round or square. Disprovea every physics theorem since Galileo’s time. Adopted the school uniform of pink and grey. Learned the contours of Chickatawbut Road in “Spook ' s” safe driving class. Elected Nancy Budd our class treasurer. Sponsored our operetta. Babes in Toyland, Danced through “A Little Bit of Heaven” at our prom. Initiat ed such teamo as golf and girls’ tennis, and Bade farewell to Mr. Harrison Jordan, one of the best; Then, on the last leg of our journey, we survivors, the seniors — Reminisced at the loss of such institutions as four minutes between classes, freshmen, and audi- rium study hall. Proved that a violent reaction takes place be- tween sodium and hydrochloric acid in Pop’s lab. Sank deep into the pit of debt because of class dues, pictures, and yearbooks. Retained our Class officers. Left school at the unheard of time of 1:55 (a net gain of five minutes) , Staged one of the most successful senior shows in B.H.S. history and. Stuffed ourselves at the banquet and danced it off at the reception; Finally, We the Class of ’57 joyfully received our diplomas and tearfully bade farewell to our days at B.H.S. cHamcnt a t Will and To whom it may concern.: We, the graduates of the class One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty-seven, of illustrious old Braintree High School, located in Norfolk County, Braintree, Massachusetts, being of sound mind and fully aware of what we are doing, do hereby make this will and testament: Bill Calder wills his leadership ability to Teddy Lang.
