• • CLASS HISTORY Janet Nelson It was September, 1951, that a group of be- wildered and expectant boys and girls fearfully entered the pcrtals of Braintree High. After much confusion and more studying of the bul- letin board, each one found his homeroom and four years of high school had begun. Sports were of main interest to everyone. The boys started to organize their teams and, for the first time in Braintree High School, the freshman girls had supervised sports. It was September, 1952, and the wise sopho- mores began the year by electing class officers two of which, Pete Dingman, President, and Pat Campbell, Secretary, continued to lead the class throughout high school. The month of March gave the sophomore class a good theme for the Sophomore Social, and the gym became an Irish paradise. The dance was a great success through the endless efforts of the class sponsors. Miss Hazel Sum- merville and Mr. Alton Perry. No longer under-classmen we had become experienced juniors, and, following traditi on. we chose our class rings. Adding to this excite- ment, we had gone undefeated in football; and basketball proved to be quite successful. When spring came, plans for the Junior Prom were well under way. Changing the gym into Springtime in Central Park with pool, flowers, and old-fashioned carriages was quite a task; but as always our class came through. The boys in their tuxes and the girls in their formats added to the picturesque setting; everyone had on enjoyable time. Seniors at last! With our goal in sight we started the year by making sure every under- classman had bought a booster which helped our yearbook to become the great success that it is. Class dues, yearbook, and picture money put an end to penny rolling in the study hall. Due to the hard work of the directors, writers, and performers, our Senior Show was well re- ceived by all attending. The Banquet and the Senior Reception will always be remembered. As we put on the blue and white gowns of Braintree High, we had proved to ourselves that we had done a successful jcb in our studies and that we were new ready for the future.
