Proctor Superintendent of Schools Skills %a l orii in ( ' ainl)ri(lge, Air. Proctor attended Cambridge Latin Scliool from whence he went to Tufts College where he made Phi Beta Kai)pa and graduated with a B.S. summa cum laude. He enlisted in the Naval Air Corps while a freshman at Tufts during the first World War. His first appointment was as a history teacher at Bridgewater High School. From there he secured principalships in Chatham High School, Smith Academy, South Alanchester High School (Connecticut), Wellesley High School, and Plverett Little High School (Alaine). Air. Proctor later became superintendent in Aubvirn, Alaine and came to us as Supeiintendent of the Braintree Schools in April, 1940. Air. Proctor holds a AI. in Ed. from Boston Universitv. ATION Edna E. Woodsum Miss Woodsum is Mr. Proctor’s gracious and efficient secretary. Her interest in young people is generally known, and all who come in contact with her respect her. Ralph W. Proctor One of the friendliest and most sincere men that we have ever seen is Mr. Proctor. When he mentions himself it is not of his accomplishments, of wliich there are many, but of his few failures or when the joke was on him. Mr. Proctor was a star athlete during his high school and college days and thei ' efore takes great interest in spoi ' ts at B.H.S. You can find him at any football or basketball game. It is very encouraging to the boys playing that their superinten- dent thinks enough of them to leave his stack of work to come to see them win or lose. Constance F, Stecher (Adviser to the Wampatuck) Miss Constance F. Stecher, Head of the Department of English and Faculty Adviser to The Wampatuck since 1931, has guided and worked with us to point the way to help and to live with others. We have learned through her just what it requires to he successful and happy. We owe much of our achievement to her and we wish to e.xpress our deep appreciation for all that she has done for us. Marion J. Simpson William J. Foley (Co-Sponsors) In our Sophomore year, when we were entitled to elect class officers for the first time, we chose Miss Marion J. Simp- son to be our pilot. She saw us through our Sophomore and Junior years with suc- cess. When it came time to become Seniors, we elected Mr. William J. Foley to assist Miss Simpson with the many and varied events of our fourth year. They have both worked untiringly to guide us in all our activities. The best we can say is — Thank you ! EVERYDAY LIFE We usually find Mr. Mur- phy in the cafeteria maintaining peace among the Frosh rather than the upper classmen. You’d I ' ecognize him as a short, bright- eyed, friendly man always ap- pearing to be in a hurry. James L Jordan Principal Sub-Master Here’s to Mr. Jordan, the central figure of school life and activities in Brain- tree High. Mr. Jordan is our jovial principal who keeps the wheels of progress running smoothly in good old B.H.S. He is our kindly adviser who straightens out our difficulties, metes out just punish- ment with a firm but gentle hand. He is interested in the future of each student individually and in keeping up the high standards of our school. Albert J, Murphy ADM NISTRATIVE Kathleen L Campbell As you walk into tho office to ask for information, the first sound to greet your ears is the steady click, click of the typewriter. As soon as the neatly dressed woman sees you she stops tyj)ing, and calling you by youi ' first name or nickname, asks you what she can do for you. That pleasant person with the friendly smile is Mrs. ( ' am])l)ell. It is she who does the phoning, typing, calling and innumerable things to be accomplished in the offic(‘. Every pui)il is known to her by his fiist name and she seems to take special interest in each one. S. mean to me It means All the things which four years have brought me. ] Iy friends, my teachers, laughter, tears, joys and sorrows. Knowing that every day has something new in store for me. It means classrooms to work in and broaden my mind. Classrooms to laugh in when a witty ( ) teacher cracks a joke. The library where I forever hear, “People!!! C uiet!!!’’ C ' afeteria rush at 12:50, and “gab” until 3:00, The Dairy Bar, busy with us drifting in and out. The corner drug store and Smiley’s. It means football games in the fall. Basketball games in the winter. Baseball and track in the spring. It means plays, assemblies, dances and the Prom, Knowing everyone, having a smile for all. Office, se.s.sions, make-up, books, and homework. Lockers banging, people rushing along the corridor — yes. All this means stepping from childhood to youth. From youth to maturity; And I shall be sad the day that I wave goodbye To B. 11. S. and all it stands for; But its memories will be forever sacred to me. {32 Our Seniors Class of 1947 BRAINTREE HIGH SCHOOL DONALD ADAMS Sei ' iours worker . . . B. H. S. little realized the possibilities of the Class of 1947 at the time of our entrance. It took some time to become accustomed to the fundamentals of high school life, but ingenuity saw us thiough. We excelled scholastically as well as in sports of all kinds. By the end of Ereshman year we had learned to realize what it meant to be a member of the B. H. S. .student body. Sopho- more year was ushered in by election of officers: Leonard “Lefty” IMarinella, President; James Magee, Mce President; Margaret “Vee” Finne- gan, Secretary; Johnston “Bud” IMoffatt, Treas- urer; and Miss Simpson, Class Sponsor. The big social event of the year was the Sophomore Social which turned out to be highly successful. Our class put many stars on the football, base- ball, track, and basketball sciuads — but, Lo, and Behold! The Freshmen beat us in football! And so, to be Juniors! HISTORY THE UNFORGETTABLE YEARS A’irginia Craig Junior year we sponsored “The Bohemian Girl” which was a great succe.ss. Our football team boasted of Peter Leo, “Lefty” Marinella, John LeRoy, and Tony Asci. We must not forget Junior Prom, the gala event of the year. We elected class officers: “Lefty” Marinella, Piesident ; “Bud” Moffatt, Y ' ice President; “Yee” Finnegan, Secretary; Joseph Harvey, Treasurer; with i Ii.ss Simpson as Sponsor. This slate remained the same Senior year, ex- ce])t for the fact that i Ir. Foley was elected ( ' o-Sponsor. At the l)eginning of Senior year we received our class rings, sat for pictures, ordered caps and gowns, and pai ' ted with our last few dollars for yearbook. Senior Show was a great hit. Of course, our football team was right on its toes. Senior Reception and Ban- (piet were held the last of June. After cro.s.dng fingers and toes all year, we were graduated with flying colors. As we left school we turned back to say “(iood-bye. Good Old Braintree High — We’re sure going to miss you.” CLASS WILL June Auction I iaintreo High School ' lshiMgtoIl St. Hraiiitioe, Mass.
