l 1 K SCIENCE New Science Interest Shown at Brack Mrs. Minnie T. Cochrane, biology teacher, displays the introduction to insect study in the Biology I classes. O Alf ll As more and more students are realizing the limitless opportunities in the scientific fields, the science class enrollment has been raised considerably. Brackenridge High School offers courses in biology and physiology, as well as courses in chemistry and physics. A student is given the opportunity to explore in- to scientific fields. Anything from a mold to the nervous system or the complex equations of a chemistry problem can be found here at Brack- enridge. A student may get cr major or a mi- nor in science and then continue in college. The microscopic grooves made by a bullet appear to be interesting to Mr. Charles Piland and science students.

ENGLISH English Maior Required for Graduation Courses in English are offered to every student enrolled at Brackenridge. These range from practi- cal English to public speaking and dramatics. A major in English is required for graduation. Stu- dents who plan to attend any college after gradua- tion from Brackenridge may take advanced English courses. English IX is a refresher course in the fun- damentals learned in the practical English courses. Mrs. Merrill Gates displays her collection of delicate ceramic pieces. This is what she does in her spare time as 'her hobby. Drinking coffee in the teachers' cafeteria is Mrs. Pat Germann, an English teacher who ioined the Brack faculty at mid-term. fb .op fk Q it V Mr. Henry Young cleans his gun for an oncoming hunting trip..

MATH and COMMERCIAL I Choice of Seven Suloiects Offered to Students Mathematics introduced many Brackeniidge students to such terms as equations, theorems, exponents, and functions of an angle for the first time. Courses were offered in general math and algebra as well as solid geometry and trigonometry which would make a major or minor. The mathematics courses offered al so in- cluded a practical math course. Knowledge of math is needed of all students whether or not they plan to attend college. It has- become as vitally important to a secretary, clerk. or to a housewife as it has to any college entrant. Mr. F.
