FOREMEN Without a foreman to surpervise the Work to be done on the range, the leatherbeaten cowpokes wouldn't be able to organize and accomplish the many chores of ranch life. On every good ranch there is a foreman to instruct the city greenhorns, keep down the know-all Wranglers, and keep above the Wise and experienced cowpunchers. Here on the range at BHS we also have our tore- men -the teachers. They, just as the ranch toremen do, patiently instruct the greenhorns, Sophomores, keep down the know-all Wranglers, Iuniors, and struggle to keep above the Wise and experienced cowpunchers, the Seniors. Iust as the ranch hands look to their foreman for guidance and instruction, We, the students of BHS, look to our teachers for guidance in our education. As a ranch would told up Without a leader, dear old Bracken- ridge High would perish without the wonderful leader- ship we receive from our teachers. UEDIEATIUN ll. D. COBB, 'Vice Principal In presenting our annual this year, We feel We must voice our appreciation to one ol our favorite "toremen", Mr. I. D. CobbfBrackenridge's genial vice principal. Guiding a "tenderfoot" along the rocky trail of high schools first year or helping a "cowpuncher" ride out to face the future bravely, our Mr. Cobb is always on the alert, a smiling, willing helper. From 1943, when he entered Brackenridge as vice principal, down to the present he has given his love and devotion to the cause of bettering public education. In the history of the future there will be many Brackenridge High School students who were inspired by his vision, encouraged by his counsel, and guided by the force of his per- sonality. To him, in grateful appreciation, we dedicate our 1947 La Retama. I was is complete in itself. PAGE 9
