Cowboy Teams Have Mixed Season From the opening day of football practice. it was obvious to the members of the Coaching staff that the losses through graduation of seventeen seniors from last vearis outstanding undefeated - football team would be severely felt. The 1958-59 football team suffered from a lack of experienced ball play- ersg however. the members of'the squad made up for it in determination and desire. The Cowboys played one of Boys Townfs typical schedules Com- peting against some of the best High School teams in the country. At the close of the season the record showed three wins and seven losses. but one of the wins was a sweet victory over the always tough De- troit Catholic Central, and another victory came over a fine De LaSalle High School of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 1958-59 Basketball Team was afflicted with the same lack of experience that the football squad faced. There were only two boys returning from last vearls squad. and this vearis team had xeri little height. The Cowboy basketball team played a six- teen game schedule and turned in a line twelve wins and four loss record. during the regular season. Though small in overall size. the squad was fast. aggressive and possessed some very fine shooters. ln the first game of the South Omaha District Tournament. the Cowboys faced the verv tall and aggressive Omaha South, and dropped a hard fought 39-55 game.
