The picture at the upper right has Donald Warsh, William Mikich, Anthony lrek, and Gerald Flessate discussing the present world situation in a history class. At the left is Mr. T. Heidtke who looks mighty unlike a history teacher while he rakes his lawn. He also likes hiking. At the top are Mr. A. Lilly and Mr. W. A. Becker. Mr. Lilly, having his students' welfare always in mind, here discusses one of his charges with a mother at Open House. Mr. Becker is shown in his American Legion office acting as chairman of his district's March of Dimes campaign. He also enioys camping and fishing and travel- ing so he likes to go to Badger Boys State where he teaches Parliamentary Law. Below these two is Mr. N. Skaros teaching his daughter Susan and a playmate how to fish for trout. Under him is Mr. L. R. Thomas occupied here in reading. He plays bridge and keeps his old interest in all forms of athletics. Mr. H. W. Nicolaus stands below Mr. Heidtke. ln summer he manages water shows in connection with the Jackson Park Fourth of July celebration. All south side high schools are represented in these shows. The Music department is shown in the center pictures. Mr. J. T. Oakes is putting finishing touches on his new home. He seems as handy with the saw as with a baton. To his right are two of his charges, Walter Golbuff and Harold Johnson, laughing at a sour note in Barracks 4. Below them is Mr. E. M. Mueller with his first loves, Kathy and Michael. No wonder his hobbies center around the home! There is hardly time for fishing, he says. The Art department is portrayed at the bottom of the page. Mr. H. L. Thurn, our ceramics expert, has a separate studio where he specializes in pottery. He also enioys fine music. Mr. R. E. Cote, Department Chairman, is evaluating a work of art at his desk. His hobbies are color photography and designing and building homes. Mr. D. Gill has recently built his own home. This is a picture of genius at work-mixing mortar. Mr. G. O. Young designed the whole fireplace in front of which he sits teaching his son, Richard, drawing. The care of his home and reading divert his attention from school work. At the bottom of this page are pictured James Anson, Arnold Wichman, and Robert Horn discussing an art problem in the Art department.
