Vickery, embarked in the BOXER in March, I953, as a Fighter element of ATG-I. ln the latter part of June, Vi:-III exchanged places with Vi:-LLLL, going aboard the USS LAKE Cl-IAMPLAIN For temporary duty until Gctober, when it was transferred back to the BOXER. As Vi:-III completed it's third combat tour ol: the Korean conflict, it chalked up another year as a courageous Fighting unit, dauntlessly carrying the Fight to the enemy on his own ground just as they did in World War ll. The squadron carried on in the same heroic tradition their predecessors established in the Pacific Fighting ol: the last war by bagging the First MIG-I5 ol: the Korean air war. The shultiile between the BOXER and the LAKE Cl-lAiVll3LAlN did not deter Vi:-III in any way, as it's men and pilots maintained their Fighting tradition with long hours, hard work, cooperation and the team spirit which makes them a top outfit. Vi:-Ill is justifiably proud of the past cruise, and have a Firm belief: that their men who made the supreme sacriliice will not have died in vain. 23
