Damage Controlmen maintain and test the ships Fire Fighting and damage control equipment, as well as perliorm repairs, tests and inspections which insure the shipis watertight integrity, in order that the ship will be able to withstand damage it intlicted. During battle, tire or collision, they comprise the below decks repair parties, making emergency repairs and controlling damage, thereby enabling the ship to continue to deliver the maxi- mum ettectiveness. i.
