They are charged with the specitic responsi- biIity ot coIIection', evaIuation, and dissem- ination oi: intormation. Despite the Cripes, I'm confused appearance periodicaIIy, the men are highly trained in all phases oi: radar, voice communications, piotting CincIuding writ- ing backwardsj and reporting. Ot necessity, CIC is a team. It consists ot no star pIayers. It is manned twenty-Four hours a day, at sea and at anchor, secured only whiIe tied up to a dock. It is a headache to the Captain, an unnecessary bother to the piIots, and a pain in the neck to the Electronics division, but, when the weather is too bad to see the Flight deck From the bridge, it is a good division to have on board.
