Navy 8 August IQ53- Born in New Bern, North Carolina, Captain Moore graduated From the Naval Academy in I927 and was designated a Naval Aviator in IQ3O. l-lis early duty included Flying Vought observation seaplanes, instructing, Flying with the Famous I-ligh I-lat squadron, duty with ship's company in the USS RANGEQ, testing such planes as the Grumman Fill: 'iWildcat,' and the Douglass SBD Dauntless, and stalili duty with patrol wings in the Atlantic. ln I943, he reported to the USS FRANKLIN and was Navigator during the Marianas and Palau campaigns and Executive Otticer during the battle oi: Leyte Gull: and the Philippines campaign. ln January, IQLL5, he assumed command ol: the USS Tl-IETIS :f BAY CCVE-9Ol. - : Qrdered to postgraduate training in Personnel Administration at Stanford University, he received a l'laster's Degree from that institution in IQLLS.
