THE BEACON W., enior Cfazm Oficerfi Lively Wilson .... ...., P resident Shirley Graham .... ....... V ice-President Marian Norman. . . . ..,. ....... . . . Secretary-Treasurer SPONSORS Miss Belle Potter Mr. W. B. Kerr 0155 or-ia Our Senior Class of 1944 is different from the classes of previous years in that several of its original members are now serving in the armed forces of this country. Directly after graduation others will undoubtedly join these ranks. Because of the uncertainty of our immediate future one might think that we could not look forward with the usual dreams and hopes that have inspired former Senior classes. This is not true. The demands of the years to come will not be a dis- couragement but a challenge to us. Our ideals shall be a beacon star that will guide us through these uncertain days. Always we shall have hope, hope that will help us to be ready to fill in the gaps left by those who had as high aims and ideals as we, but whose careers were cut short by the call to arms. , When the evening of our life has come to us and we take down from a shelf in our libraries this worn and aged volume, as we turn the pages looking upon each well-remembered face, may we live again the memories of happy days at Bowling Green High. When the fire burns low and scenes of the past troop by, we shall linger for awhile among the shadows, remembering the bright pages and our hopes to help rebuild a bleeding world. As the Senior Class of 1944 passes in review, it is our belief that each member will have contributed something worthwhile to this great cause.
