The Amistad has been in exis- tence for about six years. The Amistad was started when the commu- nity requested a perform- ing group from Bowie High School. The main ob- jective for the Amistad was to create a performing group that can sing at school and at various POWER OF IMAGINATIONX 16 Each member had to auditions in order to qualify for member- ship. The singing group also has an elec- tric bass, drums, bells, and other rhythm in- struments Which add a lively sound to their songs. The thing Barragan likes most about Amis- tad is the student in- volvement and partici- pation in something they really enjoy. i..
