The spirit is all that counts any people screamed, many cheered on their team, and many participated in school events. All these things had to do with the spirit here at school. Spirit improved this year according to students, one could see the improvement too. For example, there had been an increase of people at the football games, and people partici- pated in spirit events, such as Wearing the school colors on game days. The school spirit is improving but it's still not good enough , said cheerleader, Carol Correa. Correa had ideas for improving the spirit such as having more activities and more pep rallies. Cheerleader, Desi Madrid had more to say on the subject, VV e should try to get teachers and students involved in more activities that are fun . But games and dressing up was not the only Way of showing spirit at school. Let's not forget everybody's favor- ite event, the Bonfire . Of course, this was an after school event. Bonfires were held at the levy, next to ASARCO, people would get together and try to start a fire. After the fire was set, some would gather around the fire and some would sit on cars and talk. Everybody had something good to say about bonfires for example, they're bad , they're cool , or they're awe- some . Freshman, Iuan Spike Dominguez thinks bonfires are the greatest things ever to come, his exact words, They are bad! Bonfires have been packed with people, not just those attending school but also those who have already graduated and some who don't even attend the same school go to these events. Participating in all of these different events is what spirit is all about. lOfVlSlONS

Read for an thing 87-88 Fiesta Queen Ianie Zubia Serrano 87-88 Lady-in-Waiting Ruth Martinez Choosing the 87-88 Fiesta Court was a hard job for all. Student's tried to decide who would be best for the position and many worked on counting the votes, which was not an easy job. After knowing the results, the court was contacted that same day for picture taking. The girls did their best to get to the studio considering they had such short notice. After the pictures where taken, the yearbook advisor and the studios photographers stayed up all night developing pictures in order to meet yearbook deadline. This was quite a task. Everything was accomplished and everything was on time. This was not only a load off of the people working on the Fiesta, but also a load off of the special girls chosen to be in the Fiesta Court.
