my 1W'W ' . ww ashing cars, selling candies, or painting posters is what people who participate in extracurricular activities do. 'Ihere was a goal to be accomplished behind these activi- ties and this goal is what kept everybody going. The Senior Club was very active this year. They washed cars almost every Saturday, they sold candy bars, they had bake sales, they painted posters for spirit events, and they even had something called Slave For A Day where seniors sold themselves to underclassmen for a 24 hour period. Many participated just to keep busy or just to have some fun. Carol Correa is one of those who participated to keep busy, I like to be involved in things so I can spend my time doing something else instead of being at home . Some didn't consider washing cars work they considered it as having fun with a bunch of friends. Car washes are fun because you get to play around with everybody, I like to be with my friends , said senior, Bea Carrillo. The goal behind all these events for the seniors was leaving a gift for the school and, of course, the Senior Prom. That was the event every senior looked forward to. There were also extracurricular activities where people did work. For example, there were those who had to go to workshops for journalism, student council, clerical work, and so forth. Mike Atienzo was one of those who went to such work- shops. He had to attend these workshops so he could learn more about what he was involved in. He also said he at- tended these workshops because he wanted to be involved. Everybody had their own reasons to have participated in these activities, but whatever the reasons, these people participated in them for the fun of it. OPENINCX7
