Football Queen Elizabeth Martinez, sur- rounded by members of her court, poses during the Bowie-El Paso game. The 1957 football season brought about the shaping of a better kind of school spirit. Game days saw the campus full of demonstrations of loyalty from students and team back- ers, from the banners decorating the buildings to the avid number of students who gathered in groups around the cam- pus to cheer, it was a new spirit that the fans carried all throughout the season. A loyal and peppy cheering crowd followed the Bears. They filled the stadium where Bowie played. Homecoming festivi- ties were highlighted by the attendance of great numbers of ex-students and boosters who managed to make the festivi, ties more lively.
