,......i.sQ This year the faculty and staff of Bourgade decided that a total self-evaluation was quite necessary. The overall evaluation consisted of philosophies, goals and objectives, development, church's educational mission, review and update, future plans, student committee reports, and community committee reports. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges, or WASC, is a new approach of evaluation being presently used by many schools Those involved as members of the WASC team include the following: Dr. Voi Coy of Washington High School, Ms. Virginia Dertina of Gerard, Sr. Katrine Johnston BVM of Xavier, Mr. Michael Klein of Brophy, Mr. Thomas Mamara of Seton, Sr. Cecilia Louise Moore CSI from the Western Christian Education Association of Los Angeles, and Ms. Rita Simons of Gerard. Results from the accreditation included strengths, areas for improvement, and plans for the future of Bourgade. One strength mentioned is the Christian principles and religious attitudes in a school this size creates an atmosphere in which there is unity in the student body and a good rapport between the staff and students. Some of our poor areas included a more solid financial basis to support programs, salaries, facilities, and a need to develop a public relations program which will more firmly establish a positive image of Bourgade, An outstanding plan for the future of Bourgade is by increasing enrollment, we will be able to expand the staff. This will allow us to spread the additional roles and duties over a larger number of people. WASC Evaluations 151
