Freshman Breakfast proves successful On August 18, the freshmen and their parents, along with the administration, went through Freshmen Orientation. It was intended to give the freshmen a basic run-down of the school. The administration covered areas such as the following: discipline, dress code, regulations, graduation requirements, and the daily schedule. Also covered, was a summary of each course offered for the freshman year. By the end of the day, everyone had a good idea of what the school expected from each student. The annual Freshman Mass and Breakfast gave a chance for the new parents to meet one another. Early that morning, on September 19, a mass was held in the gym, followed by a breakfast in Madonna Hall. It was very well attended, with the majority of the freshman families present. Several parents said this freshman breakfast was one of the best that Bourgade has given in recent years. The food consisted of melons, pastries, and doughnuts, with coffee, milk, and juice to drink. They have shown that they support the school from their participation in the Walk-a-thon. In the Drama Department, one student in particular was awarded for his outstanding achievement. Albert Temme demonstrated his versatility by performing three roles in Camelot. In the Athletic Department, several freshmen were presented with varsity letters for their participation in sports. Phillippe Sampaio received one for basketball, while letters in tennis were given to Corrine Rabe, Valerie Reynolds, and Anthony Shepherd. The following members of the softball team also received letters: Colleen Dorsey, Stephanie Estfan, Amy Kline, and Margaret Medina. Freshmen 143
