A moment of silence before kickoff. This year cannot be considered one of Bourgade's best, but we know that next year will be better for this year's experiences with four AA class schools. The Eagles started practices early this summer with their new coach, Mr. Southard. As well as having had a new coach, we also had many new faces on the field. To start off the '74 season, the Golden Eagles played four tough AA teams: Nogales, Coconino, Flagstaff, and Holbrook. While playing these top rank ' teams, the Eagles suffered many injuries, but their spirit never died. The Flag- staff game was dedicated to Tony Chacon who was unable to play the rest of the season because of a knee injury incurred during the previous game. The team was also struck heavily by many illnesses. This opened many important positions to inexperienced players. This year's Gerard game wasn't a win for Bourgade, but it was good enough for Bourgade fans who watched anxiously in the last minute of play as Danny Jet Horner scored a T. D. for Bourgade ending the game Gerard-30, Bourgade- 16. The Bourgade Golden Eagles clinched a wirmer against Parker 24-0 to make the first conference victory. Besides the irrepressible team spirit, two additional incentives were present which culminated in a mighty victory over Mingus: the week of the Nifty- Fifties , andthe chant on the field Pico, Pico, Pico . . . Dedicating the game to Tim Pico Andrade, our boys played with overwhelming spirit to win! 47
