Let us do our Work as Well, Both the unseen and the seen 3 Make the house Where gods may dwell Beautiful, entire, and clean. Else our lives are incomplete, Standing in these walls of Time, Broken stairways, Where the feet Stumble, as they seek to climb. Build today, then, strong and sure With a firm and ample base 3 And ascending and secure Shall tomorrow find its place. 1 Thus alone can we attain To those turrets, where the eye Sees the world as one vast plain, And one boundless reach of sky. This year cannot be considered one of Bourgade's best, but we know that next year will be better for this year's experiences with four AA class schools. The Eagles started practices early this summer with their new coach, Mr. Southard. As well as having had a new coach, we also had many new faces on the field. To start off the '74 season, the Golden Eagles played four tough AA teams: Nogales, Coconino, Flagstaff, and Holbrook. While playing these top rank ' teams, the Eagles suffered many injuries, but their spirit never died. The Flag- staff game was dedicated to Tony Chacon who was unable to play the rest of the season because of a knee injury incurred during the previous game. The team was also struck heavily by many illnesses. This opened many important positions to inexperienced players. This year's Gerard game wasn't a win for Bourgade, but it was good enough for Bourgade fans who watched anxiously in the last minute of play as Danny Jet Horner scored a T. D. for Bourgade ending the game Gerard-30, Bourgade- 16. The Bourgade Golden Eagles clinched a wirmer against Parker 24-0 to make the first conference victory. Besides the irrepressible team spirit, two additional incentives were present which culminated in a mighty victory over Mingus: the week of the Nifty- Fifties , andthe chant on the field Pico, Pico, Pico . . . Dedicating the game to Tim Pico Andrade, our boys played with overwhelming spirit to win! 47 , . They were leaders within the framework ofB0u1-gade, shaping from the old to continue to build onto the new. The major organizations such as National Honor Society, Student Government, the two publication staffs, all varsity athletics and Pom S Cheer had seniors playing active roles to keep involvement high. Many seniors contributed their time and talent as actors or stage crew for Bourgade's play production of Bye, Bye Birdie. Maintaining the traditional activities organizied by the seniors, class officers Marty Lanoue, President, Mary Ivenz, Vice-Presidentg Pattie O'Connor, Secretary and Dee Fields, Treasurer, presented Americana '74 which turned out to be truly a senior spectacular. Their other projects consisted of Ditch Day, St. Pa1:rick's Day and a,C9-T Washs all added to the remember whens of the school year. Along with the extracurricular side of senior year, there are also countless forms to fill out and hours spent ontrying to make decisions on the future. All too sudden- ly ACT test dates come and go, and before you know it, you missed your college application deadline. But all of this adds to the mixed emotions of the year! m6mO1'i6S Of the past and questioning tomorrow, tired of the routine of high school and yet unsure of what awaits you. All of the above goes to make up not only the class as a whole but also to each of its individuals. li' ips., 105 Wil iv 1 'J Y , J, Patty Larry Victor Andrews Aniuk Armendariz .-?- A,-Z 1:1 James Bauer Nav Marcy David Mary Black Bonitz Buthala Q-,.. Each individual did his part, showing the unlimited powers of their class. The most active class this year, the juniors were making money every way they could. They sold locker organizers and shelves, baked goods, candy apples, carnations and even kisses. There were car washes, a bike rally, and flyers handed out. Their Reflections of Spring fashion show was not only entertaining, but successful, adding S263 to their treasury. But, the most beautiful night for the juniors was April 26, the Ir. -Sr. Prom. They popped their buttons at the compli- ments and their own enjoyment added to their happiness. All of the work seemed to pay off. Now they could relax a little. The Hozas' cabin was the perfect setting for thoughts of God and life. The retreat there was the perfect ending to a very pros- perous year. Once again, the Juniors showed the true meaning of the Spirit of '76 . JUNIORS ANXIOUS FOR SENIOR YEAR AND THE SPIRIT GF '76 .S 45 I -1 'S I ., 5 A , . Now that the days of being a freshman, new' to the school and just learning about it, are over, the sophomores have grown to be more of a part of Bourgade. Although it wasn't easy still having bottom lockers and wanting to be looked upon as upperclassmen, the sophomores became aware of the activities offered to them. Leading the class are the officers, Bob Lambie, Pres., Mary Anne Butkiewicz, Vice Pres., Kathy Troska, Sec., and Treas. Kathy Ganem. These officers managed to get their class united and therefore they proved to be an asset to our school. The sophomores' success this year is shown in their work--not only having the usual bake sales and car washes, but also selling Chokers, attending a retreat, and winning best float at homecoming. Sophomore year, however difficult, is over with a year filled with ac- complishments. lim. 127 Meri-ifit' pimp iix , Terry Allen Dav1d Andrade Sandy Baker B an Bass e e ayllr Patr1c1a Bender T1m Bened1ct Carmen BunJ ovac ary H116 'llt ICWIC1 Jeffre Campb 11 j5hn Care e Pat Carr Zeke Chavez Debb1e Cheloha EPIC Cooper Suzanne Cote Paul Cudmore is we WWW -x..a.
