A PEEK AT THE FRESHNEN We freshmen are hoping to be in future years the Whig wheelsw of these Portals of Destiny. Yes, like any other class we have a gay side a serious side-our athletes and our brains. Our class had sixty-one pupils--seven more boys than girls. We'll leave it up to you to figure out the numbers-by algebra, of course. Ah! Yes! Algebra! Our intentions at the first of the period are for algebra but we usually end up talking about anything but. I suppose we should mention something about our class members before we discuss our different classes so here goes. About forty of us attended the eighth grade in Bottineau last year, the rest of us being from Omemee or the country. Our class officers are: Pres.-Duane Arthur, V. Pres.-Bobby Gagnerg Sec.--Jean Jacobsong Trees.-Kenny Lillestrand. Our class meetings are held in the study hall if its at all possible, since its rather crowded in the classrooms. Miss Stewart and Miss Kittleson are the poor souls who have to advise us, and its really quite a job. Now, lets discuss our classes. N'Ladies' Firstn so we'l1 tell you about home ec. Our new teacher, Miss Herigstead, assigns us certain duties, and to quote a student, WSome of us do them.u Next Vocational agriculture or nAgN. we boys have our good times, as during tests or when Larry has a Whangover,N not the usual kind. And general science and Latin! when a general science student has a report or a hard test he envies Latin students but the situation is reversed when G. S. students brag about having movies and experiments. Ch! We can't forget music. Fourteen uf us belong to band. It's really fun when M . Opland gets going. And when'he and M . Sker get together! That brings us up to chorus. Mr. Skar can pull some real Wdilliesu but we try to work hard. We have some members in concert choir too: when we're seniors we hope to be the whole choir. Now English. We try to memorize our poems, act out our plays, and study our lessons, but it seems as though we forget to once in awhile and get moved. And last, but not least is physical education. Most of us take advantage of this opportunity to let off steam after sitting for sleepingl through classes all day. Seven of us boys made the football team, five made the basketball team, and , ouite a few go out for track, so we have a fairly good beginning to become the Whig shotsn in Bottineau High School athletics. Before we close, we would like to mention that we will miss you, Mr. Anderson and Mr. Opland. This, then, cmmpletes the report of the Seniors of '56, rx 28
