and Prom both of Wh1Ch were hlgh suc cesses and rece1ved great pra1se from students and parents al1ke The play was one of the greatest ever produced and all the praxse goes to the cast and 1ts adV1S0f Mlss Estes The f1nanc1al standxng of the class was greatly lncreased and all the proceeds went towards mak1ng the blggest and best Prom around The success of th1s undertaklng was due to the ent1re class as each had a part 1n lt and all cooperated lO0f Mac Scott selected Beverly Olson one of the classes many charm 1ng g1rls as queen and together they relgned over Chlnatown As The b1g moment arrxved when 54 ln telllgent and worthy puplls estab llshed themselves 1n that long a walted spot the mlghty Sen1or Elec t1on of off1cers was held 1mmed1ately and Dale Everson Anlta Klng Dorothy Schabow and Mary Scallon were glven top honors and selected to gu1de the class through the year The f1FSt asslgnment was the Sen 1or Formal and as usual we made lt a huge and wonderful affa1r Snow ball was chosen as the theme and decoratlons were planned accord1ngly everythlng went off ID a splendld fash1on supply1ng all the grandeur and soph1st1cat1on of such an event Everyone was happy at the outcome and another mer1t was added to our growlng l1st of accompl1shments We thr1ved on all our glory and our part well throughout the year John Schoonover and Dale Everson were S DAY 15 customary we gave the SCHIOYS a huge banquet and proved to them we were really a generous class decoratlons beflttlng the theme the two classes d1ned and enjoyed the program after whxch everyone proceed ed to the gym for the dance The dance ended w1th the usual collectlon of souvenlors and everyone went home happy and sat1sf1ed that lt was wonderful Prom Next came the end of another step plng stone towards that long 8W81CEd goal Next year we would reach It and all eyes were on the coveted rank of Sen1ors selected as valed1ctor1an and salut ator1an and well deserved that hard earned pos1t1on A note must be made of the1r f1ne averages of 97 and 96 and set up as a goal for all upcomlng classes Flnally graduat1on and the rece1v 1ng of dlplomas Desplte the feel 1ng of growlng up all looked back at the1r hlgh school career and re membered well the happy days spent at B H A After w1sh1ng the next Sen1or Class the best of luck everyone took the1r coveted pr1ze and walked out 1nto the world each to h1s chosen pos1t1on If everyone shows the same deter m1nat1on and w1ll1ngness to cooper as was d1splayed throughout our h1gh school career lt 1S certaln that all w1ll go on to new success and conquer new flelds as d1d the Class of 49 from 1945 to 1949 For the f1rst t1me 1n the hxstory of Boscobel Hlgh School one day was set aslde for members of the Senlor Class to completely take over the school The student body elected a pr1nc1pal and a student school board selected by the Sen1or Class rece1ved appl1cat1ons and appolnted the best qual1f1ed appllcants to the var1ous Jobs The members of the student adm1n1strat1on and faculty were School Board Earl F1llbach vlfglnla HISCOFY Phy Ed Beverly Olson E1ll1ngS John Schoonover and Pat Englxsh Spanlsh Dorothy Schabow Br1ckl Englxsh Latln Beverly Corp1an Pr1nc1pal Dale Everson lnds Arts Phy Ed LaVon Reynolds Scxence B10lOgY Claude Brechler Agrlculture Arthur McDowell Commerclal Anlta h1ng Band Janle Plzer Domestxc SCIENCE UOFIS Roth Vocal MUSIC Mary Scallon Soclal Problems Dlanne Eosdal Commercxal Law Earl Fxllbach Math Coach Mac Scott Janltors B111 Sxtts Burl Mlller Q ' ' ' . . EMIUH N El The Class of 49 entered IIS h1Hh school career 1n Neptenber of 1943 happy group of students bl1ssfullw 1gnorant of the hardsh1ps and good t1mes that lay 1n the1r paths 51Xty four managed to last the year out ln 1ts f1rst taste of class govern ment the class elected U1anne Fosdal presldent JU8H1t3 Pxzer v1ce presl dent Marlene Horan secretary and Leona Turner treasurer The f1rst b1g hlgh school experlence was 1H1t1at1OH day The boys were As Sophomores the total number of members 1D the class was 64 the lar gest class 1U hlgh school After e lectlng Dale lverson class pres1dent Claude Brechler v1ce pfeS1d8nI and Beverly Cbrplan secretary treasurer the class settled down to study and take care of the busxness ar1s1ng throughout the year Revenge was sweet when our turn came to 1H1C13t6 the freshmen All the pent up fury and 1nd1gnat1on toward our upper classmen was loosed on the poor l1ttle freshnen Roars of laughter fllled the halls as the Greenles carry1ng Sophomore s books and WGBTIDQ gunny sack dresses were 1n1t1ated 1nto the halls of h1gher learn1ng The class began to show 1ts out stand1ng 3b1l1f16S durlng 1916 4 mus1c debate fOFSH91CS and sports The l941 48 Jun1or Class entered 1ts next step of hxgh school and con t1nued the aggress1veness and know ledge of leadershlp shown IH lts two prevlous years As upper classmen we played our role well As IS customary we start ed the year by electlng class Offl cers Th1S year was a l1ttle dlffer ent from the rest for the elected presldent also rece1ved the honor of oblxged to come to school 1n the wear 1ng apparel of a glrl and the g1rlS had to wear the1r dresses backwards The day was spent 1I CBFFVIDQ books and pTOV1d1HQ targets for those Soph omores who pr1ded themselves on the1r sk1ll w1th a l1pst1ck tube MISS Allen was our faculty advlsor and w1th her help and the help of our teachers and Mr Holt our new pr1n c1pal the class settled themselves to hlgh school l1fe and became com pletely acqualnted w1th It Your boys recelved athletxc letters band and chorus had the1r share of Sophs we were well represented 1D f0FCnS1CS and a Sophomore debate team was organlzed by Mr Holt wlth three of 1ts members becomlng members of the vars1ty debate team the next year Wot lett1ng outs1de act1v1t1es lower the1r grades the class rated h1gh scholastlcally havlng the most students on the honor roll The Class lasketball lournament was a b1g event After heated pep rallles arguments and near r1ots between the classes we were able to w1n conso lat1on honors from the Freshmen after loslng the flrst game bv a thrllllng one polnt to the SBHIOFS A 1D all the class of 49 be an to show 1t was an outstandlng class durlng ICS sophomore year and later proved that It was be1nt lron klhp 1h1S vear Mac Scott was chosen to hold that coveted pos 1on r entered 1nto the role o resldent and Prom h1ng W1th the of h1s fellow Off1CC Art u McDowell beverly Corpxan and JUBHI ta PIZQT 07 loyal classmen came through the campalgn w1th colors fly 1ng and honors galore Among the most successful of the classes under tak1ngs th1s year were the class play 1 ' ' ' 1 ' Q 1 P, a ' 4' ' .
