EDITORIALS CONSOLIDATED HIGH SCHOOL In the small schools such as we haxe IH VV1nter Harbor and ne1ghbor1ng toxx ns the students hax en t the oppor tun1tx to obta1n as good an educatlon as they should obta1n Th6h1ghSCh00lS that vxe are attenmg now can not of fer us all the stud1es that we need such as home econom1cs mus1c classes art gymnastlcs mach1ne shops and also school clubs All boys and glrls xvould l1ke to haxe the chance to take these stud1es Parents want the1r ch1ldren to recelxe the best educat1on posslble But what can we do about It ask the tovx nspeople'7 We can t send our ch1ldren away to school 1n some large C1tV It IS a challenge problem school comm1ttees and our super1n tendent have found an answer to th1s problem Ch1ldren can have the chance to take the stud1es they want Hoxx 'P By bu1ld1ng one large consol1 dated school The h1gh schools of Gouldsboro Sull1x an Hancock Steu ben Sorrento Franklm and W1nter Harbor xxould be comb1ned 1nto one The locat1on for our new school xx ould be centered geograph1cally Trans portat1on would be prox1ded for the students Thev would r1de back and torth to school IH a school bus Th1nk of all the adx antages of a consol1dated school A large xar1ety of stud1es and courses to take Better basketball and baseball teams A chance for more plax s and soclal affalrs People ask xxhy th1s school hasnt been bu1lt before The answer IS be cause the old people of the toxvn who attended the l1ttle xx h1te school house sax there IS no need for a consol1dated school thelr ch1ldren xx ent to that fine l1ttle school and novx then' grand chlldren are I'9C61XlIlg the1r educatlon xx1th1n the four walls of the four or f1xe room school blllldlflg It was good enough for them and 1ts good nough for the students of today But IS It really as f1ne as they th1nk It IS?
