BHS Swings Into Action; Adventures Open New Horizons Boonsboro High School opened its doors to a new and adventurous school year on September 4, 1984. Although it was the first day for many, the fall sports, cheerleaders, and band had already put in long and strenuous practices. BHS witnessed many new fashions, trends, and of course new bright-eyed faces including freshmen, exchange students, and transfers from elsewhere. Even though the start of a fresh year signaled cracking the books and evenings filled with homework, everyone knew the fun was yet to come. On Friday, September 7th, the freshmen finally had a chance to meet together as a class for Freshmen Orientation. After hearing from upperclass representatives of various clubs, the new students learned of organizations, opportunities, and rules they would be following in their next four years as members of the student body. The next few weeks at BHS were also very busy. The first pep rally was held in preparation for the North game, and the seniors left with the spirit drum. Monthly club meetings started. Student council representatives were chosen and they sold folders, pens, and spirit items. The sophomores’ big day came when class rings were ordered. All in all, the 1984 school year got off to a great start and had potentials for being a super fantastic year. Heidi Seppanen. an exchange student from Finland, talks to students.
