DECA is Dancin' in '85 Last year the Boonsboro High School Distributive Education Students raised over $1,200 to benefit the patient service and research programs of the Muscular Dystrophy association through a ten-hour dance marathon. The support this event received throughout the high school and the Boonsboro community was demonstrated by the fact that the Boonsboro Dance Marathon was the single largest high school fund-raising activity for MDA in the state of Maryland during 1984. On Saturday, February 16th, the Boonsboro High School DECA students again sponsored a dance marathon—SUPER DANCE USA— to benefit MDA. Naturally, they were working hard to ensure that this year’s event would be even more successful and enjoyable. Anyone who wished to help support this event could do so by making a donation to the Boonsboro DECA students. Donations came in many forms such as: advertising space, food, prizes, and monetary contributions. The sister efforts of Roberta and Sheri Marks provided support for the Ronda Rmgler, Kym Shade. Mandy Shaffer, and Mrs. Megan Welsh show off their hard earned T-Shirts DECA Super Dance. Scott Bitner and Jim Seabright rapidly typed yearbook pages. Senior Mementos The Josten’s company made sure seniors would have many tangible mementos to remember that very special year. Pictures, rings, class keys, memory books, name cards, and tassels were exchanged during the last months of togetherness We Need Help! “Mrs. Lemkuhl, I can’t find my pictures ... but I did write that article once . . . you need how many pages? ... by when?!?” That summed up the atmosphere in the art room as the yearbook deadlines approached. Many students scurried around looking for just one more picture to complete their page, or griped because they had too many characters for their last caption! Mrs. Lemkuhl held down the fort and managed to pull us through by spending many hours unscrambling our hairbrained ideas. So with the help of Mrs. Lemkuhl, the generosity of advertiser, Mr. Allen who allotted us just one more week, and Myerly and Lowe Photographers, we were able to have a successful yearbook ... on time?!? Matt Hart worked hard to make all his pictures fit. Fun. Fun, Fun — 2

All-County Band is Outstanding The All-County Band presented their concert on February 9th at North High. The band, made up of sophomores, juniors, and seniors, played six concert numbers: The Movies, Florentiner, Suite Francaise, Gallent Seventh, Symphony No. 3 Finale, and Fantasia in G Major. The guest conductor was Mr. John Wakefield, director of bands at the University of Maryland. His strict rehearsals resulted in an excellent performance. We're All Matched-Up! The Student Council computer matches were delivered to BHS on Valentine’s Day just in time for us to make sure we could share that special day with just the right person. Many people got a kick out of who their number one match was; like Kelly Weaver, a senior, matched with freshman, Buddy Best — imagine that! Now as for Matt Ptacek and Susan Reese, they liked the idea of being matched. No matter who you were matched with; short, tall, chubby, or thin, it was all in fun. Susan Reese and Matt Ptacek are matched up. Kelly Weaver and Buddy Best cute couple?” Consider Yourself Lucky This Saint Patrick's Day! Service with a smile, compliments of Mitesh Kothari. Mrs. Judith Peisen, sophomore class advisor, has been instrumental in promoting class spirit and community involvement. Just for the fun of it, the sophomores held their second annual St. Patty’s Day dance. Below: The sophomore decorating committee put their hot air to use in filling balloons.
