Seniors Prepare For New Horizons Many seniors started to prepare for college by completing complicated college and scholarship applications. Soon after the new year, the guidance office’s acceptance poster started filling up with the names of those students who were well on their way to the future. 1st Row: Steph Ridenour. Mindy Auldridge. Dawn Best. Amy Burgan. Susan Phillips. Dave Nichols. 2nd Row: Scott Bitner. Robert Snyder, Joel Lum, Scott Dorsey, Kelly Bricker. 3rd Row: Kristi Easterday, Kate Jarmy, Dave Ward. Jim Seabright, Joel Wolf. Tim Morrow. Tenney Mackert. Peggy Castle. Dawn Sewalt. News From The Teacher's Brunner Makes Headlines Lounge: The new year brought congratulations to present and new faculty members. Mrs. Debra Swisher delivered a baby girl, Jordan Kathleen, early in the month. There was also word from Mr. Gerald Haines that he was married late in the old year 1984. And finally new department additions were made as Mrs. Dianna Basile filled in during Mrs. Swisher’s maternity absence, and Mr. Archie Graff took over retired Don Lewis’ position. Mr. Donald Lewis retires after 31 years of teaching and coaching at GHS. New Beginnings — 19 The Daily Mail newspaper made its way to BHS this year to take a look at Mr. Carl Brunner’s physics classroom. Brunner, who is retiring this year after 28 years as a school teacher, is a very unique teacher and has been turning Boonsboro students on to math and science for 27 years. Mr. Brunner, who has an interesting display of gadgets that serve an educational purpose, will always be remembered as the type of teacher who kept up on his subject matter and could ham it up to make the lesson interesting. Right: Mr. Graff chuckles as he demonstrates his teaching abilities as a newcomer.

Dec. 21st Marks the Beginning of Xmas After the last bell sounded on December 21st, students rushed out of the building to begin the Christmas holidays. Wrapping presents, making cookies, and decorating the tree with ornaments were just a few activities that students pursued to prepare for the big day. James Sweeney (left) busily wraps presents as older brother Patrick (above) helps his dad set up the tree. Snow Let's Students Sleep Late A blanket of snow and a blast of cold air allowed Washington County students to stay in bed four more days during the month of January. Even though these few extra days gave pupils a chance to breathe from the hectic January season, the bad news came when they found out that a couple of these days were to be made up during the Easter holidays. Loft: Eric Boyer’s snapshot backfired. Randy Thompson Captures Chorus Honors Boonsboro High School is honored to have Randy Thompson as a memoer of the All-Eastern States Chorus. Randy, who has been singing since he was four, was notified during mid-January that he had been accepted as a member of this distinguished chorus. Randy feels that his experience with the Boonsboro Singers has definitely helped him with other organizations. He was quoted as saying, Mrs. Kennedy is a really great teacher. She has bent over backwards to help me.” A big difference, Randy feels, in singing in a larger chorus is that the people are there strictly for music, whereas the Boonsboro Chorus is more for enjoyment. As for furthering his career, Randy already has auditions set up at colleges. He would like to study classical music. Last year he was chosen as a member of the All-State Chorus. He has participated in many singing competitions and enjoys singing at basketball games, assemblies, and churches. Left: Randy Thompson is on his way to a fantastic music career.
