Spirit Week Was Unique Before our Homecoming activities, the student council and cheerleaders worked rigorously to promote spirit by decorating the school with signs, balloons, and streamers of all colors. October 1st marked day one of Spirit Week '84. The student body dressed itself in sweatpants and sweatshirts with spirit buttons on Monday and twinned on Tuesday. Wednesday displayed a new idea for spirit by assigning a certain color to each class. Thursday was traditional dress-up day, while Friday was blue and white day, jersey and hush-up day. Ann Ellis. Curt Langley. Brian Stine and Jim Seabright led the psyched Warriors. The success of Spirit Week '84 ended with a pep rally honoring the court and with the Juniors winning the Spirit Stick. Shane Blankenship received a manequin leg for winning the best legs contest, held by the cheerleaders. Ray Monninger and Brian Stine tied for collecting the most footballs on hush-up day, and received free dance tickets. Highlighting Spirit Week was the game Friday and the crowning of our Queen. After voting, the senior class chose the top ten girls: Mindy Auldridge, Sharon Baker, Dawn Best, Tina Churchey, Kris Easterday, Tammi Kefauver, Cory McKegg, Donna Smith, and Michelle Taulton. The ten were narrowed down to just five; Dawn, Kris, Tammi, Cory and Michelle. The Spirit Week excitement climaxed with the halftime festivities. Each princess was driven onto the field, and escorted to center-field by her father. The crowd grew silent until the 1984 Homecoming Queen, Tammi Kefauver, was named. The evening was topped off by a win over Walkersville, and a dance held in the cafeteria honoring the queen and her court with music by Chantage. Picture Perfect!
