FIRST-STRING BACKS R. H.-BILL MOORE F. B.-FRITZ EHREN L. H.-DOUGLAS KENDALL Q. B.-ORVILLE LEWIS In the initial game of the season, the Bearcats, after pushing the Atkins Red Devils everywhere but over the goal line for three quarters, lost a close 6-0 decision. Next came the Bearcat's arch rival. The Paris Eagles. The game was played on a wet field which hampered Booneville's passing attack. In a big second quarter,Paris pushed two touchdowns over. The second half was a savage battle with neither side threatening or scoring. Final score, Paris 14, Booneville 0. In the third game of the season, the Bearcats found themselv® and romped at will over Dardanelle, 46-0. Then came Waldron. The first half was a bitterly fought con- test with neither side scoring. In the third quarter, after hav- ing one touchdown called back, the Bearcats pushed over for a score, but missed the extra point. Immediately Waldron came back to score and also missed conversion. This ended the scoring, and the game ended a 6—6 stalemate. The Bearcats journeyed to Hartford to take an easy 27-0. Brilliant line play helped the Bearcats to score in every quarter. CONFERENCE CHAMPS Boasting a season's record of eight wins, two defeats and one tie, the Bearcats were unanimously chosen as Chsmplons of the District 12, A. A. A. Conference. They were defeated only once, in conference play. This defeat came at the hands of Paris, which was by a close margin. The bearcats placed four men on the all—conference team. Those receiving this honor were,Fritz Ehren, Lloyd Burger, Douglas Cauthron, and Johnny Chambers. Receiving honorable mention were Bill Moore and Albert Dickey, and Donald Dempsey. COACH This year the Booneville High School was successful in its attempt to secure a full time Coach. The Bearcats were indeed fortunate to have J. P.(Perry) Mlkles, former Oklahoma Aggie player, as their coach. He was assisted by Rev. W. W. Grafton, who kept football alive at Booneville during the war. Under Perry's guidance the Bearcats had their most success- ful season since 1938. This is the 4th time in thirteen years that Booneville has won the championship. For a coach to do this in his first year is indeed a mark of excellent coaching The 1945 Bearcats are indeed grateful end shall never forget Perry and the'45 season.

After Charleston had scored first, the Bearcats came back strong to score two rapid touchdowns and win, 12-6. Booneville playing a rejuvinated Mena learn came home with a well earned 26-6 victory. On their hcmeccming jame the Bearcats ran away with Hartford, 45-0.
