Class Prophecy, 2 Watson, noted scientist whose experiments had resulted in a sure cure for cancer, was to speak on the first night. His topic, Steps in Detecting and Eliminating Malignant Growths. The second night featured Attorney Wilford Richardson whose unusual ability had helped to break down racial segregation in the south, where as the third and last session scheduled Dr. Estella Smith, a food expert from Raleigh, North Carolina. After attending the quiz program and hearing Ella Wease whizz through the most difficult questions pertaining to surgical nursing for a win of 332, 000, I caught the midnight train from New York, heading south. When I went into the dining car, there were seated opposite me four well dressed young ladies, who introduced themselves to me as, Adelle Black, Vernell Blackwell, Ruth Martin and Priscilla Neal, executive secretaries for the Labor Department, U.S.A. You can imagine my embarrassment when I realized these lovely personalities were my former classmates, who were on official business for their employer - destination - unknown. They stated that Audra Adams and Elnora Anderson were quite peeved because they had not been selected as the secretaries for this secret mission. The dining car episode completed, I returned to the coach. At once 1 was aware of the fact that during my absence, Macine Ellington, field representative for the N.A.A.C. P. was my seat mate. She informed me that she had visited several towns in her tour. During this time she too had come across several of our classmates. Amiie Martin and Irene Horne were happily married housewives in our own home town, Reids- ville, N.C. Charles Maynard and Bobby Jones, brick masons. John Lane, a carpenter. Monroe Settle, George Fulp, George Simpson, Samuel Stacey, and Norman Jarrett are engineers. Artis Wright, Randolph Johnson and James Brown operate the Wright-Johnson- Brown Television Clinic in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, while in Nashville,Marjorie McCollum, Sherlene Lee, Mary Watkins, Shirley Galloway, Roberta Cummings, Hair- lene Harrison and Novella Brown are attending The Exhibition of Latest Hair Affairs. Ellington and I, so engrossed in thoughts of the hour, that we were surprised when the conductor came through and called the next stop which was Washington, my destination. So we bid each other farewell. In Washington I ran across William Johnson and William Morrison, looking as hand- some as two air force officers could in full dress uniforms. They had just flown up from Pensacola, Florida, to spectate at the Dodgers vs. the Boston Brave game. The starting pitcher was to be Charlie Dillard. Quickly they extended to me the invitation to fly in their plane as soon as mechanic Watkins finished checking it over. Behold, a change has come over the spirit of my vision. All goes onward and outward, nothing collaspes. So it goes with the class of 1957 in the sea of adventure. Each has succeeded in his chosen field representing his alma mater well. Desiring to know all the possibilities and probabilities of the future experience in store for the members of our class of 1957, the Goddess of Visions has enabled me to dream dreams of the glories of the years to be. . . .As I look into the land of tomorrow, I behold those fair and radiant beings who were once my classmates, now changed and transformed into citizens of the world, even as they had hoped to be. I am in the nation's glory, New York City, making a tour of that magnificent place. Lo, who should I recognize near me, none but my beloved friend, Ella Wease Maynard. I had heard of her accomplishments as a nurse and she informed me that on the following day she was appearing on the 5864, 000 Question television program. She had chosen as her category, Surgical Nursing. Being very glad to see my pal from home, I accepted her invitation to go back stage with her for moral support. We ventured further and as I inquired about some of the other members of our class, she told me that many of them were living in that city. She stopped by a medical clinic to secure a reference to brush up for tonight's event. We toured the entire institu- tion, which was equipped with all the necessities essential for medical science and its progress. On query, it was revealed that the founders and operators were William Motley and Bobby Badgett, M.D. 's who, feeling the need for a competent staff of nurses, had employed Dotsye Watlington, Ruby Winchester, Annie Keezee and Peggy Harper. Immediatelyl practically ran to the staff office to greet my old classmates. After much chit chat about the good ole days, the whereabouts and accomplishments of our classmates, each of us felt proud for goals reached. From our conversation I learned that Claudette Hairston, Eleanor Lee, Patricia Totten and Delois Maynard are holding high ranking positions in the field of nursing in various parts of the United States. Peggy disclosed that there was a National Education Association Convention being held in Atlantic City, New Jersey and quite a few of our classmates were attending. Dr. Anne Curry, who heads the English Department at A 8a T College in Greensboro, N.C.: Dr. Alma King, Elementary Education, New York Universityg Drs. Lillie Horne and Geraldine Johnson, teachers of the Social Sciences at Morgan State College, Baltimore, Md. Miss Wilhelmina Waddell and Dr. Idella Russell are respected professors at a neighboring institution, Maryland State. Barbara Napper and Hilda Bracken, accom- plished dieticians, hailed from Atlanta University, Atlanta, Ga. We were thrilled to know that the great speakers for the three night sessions were also our pals. Dr. Marvin
