B L A Z I N G T H E T R A I L WNew occasions teach new duties, time makes ancient good uncouthg They must upward still and onward, who would keep abreast of truth.n - Lowell With the inspiration of the above quotation in mind the Senior Class of l9L8 nervously, but optimistically and with the assurance of our advisor, whole- heartedly launched a campaign to publish Washington High School's first Yearbook. Those at the helm of senior classes in the past have carefully steered around this cape with the utmost discretion. They were of the opinion, we presume, that this arduous undertaking, which requires much work and involves a great amount of money, was too risky a project. History has taught us that in order to continue onward someone must take the lead and pave the way for others. The pioneers who braved many hardships and settled in the interior of our country walked narrow paths that are now highways. Considering the type of response that we had received in other programs sponsored by the school and the activities that other schools pro- mote, we felt that, with the co-ordinate help of students, faculty, businesse and interested friends, we, too, could enjoy the privilege of publishing and distributing a Yearbook. It is only normal, as this is our first attempt, that we were not able to achieve perfection, yet, with determination, perseverance, valor, intrepidity and honor we endeavored to make this meager contribution toward the expansion of student activities of our Alma Mater - Grand 019 waghingtgn High, Ye can never express our deep appreciation and merited praise to those who n some way or another helped us to experience this temporary satisfaction. However, we feel that they are already cognizant of our gratitude. The Senior Class of 'L8 trusts that the senior classes of the future will not be placid in our accomplishments.
