For I dipped into the future, far as human eye could see. Locksley Hall-Tennyson CLASS PROPHECY One day while we were walking down the street, we suddenly passed a fortune teller's place. Having nothing else important to do, we decided to spend a few minutes of our time here looking into the crystal ball. Lo and behold there passed before us the members of the senior class with ten years of their lives having expired. We saw that Maurice Biggs was the head engineer of the Virginia Highway Construction Company. Malcolm Bernard was being considered as the new president of Lipton Tea Company and trying to make Bettie Jean Irby his private secretary. Jency Pittman and Janice Jones were head nurses atJohn Hopkins Hospital. Kelly Lewis was principal of A. J. Brown High School. Phillippa Estes, Patricia Williams, andSpencer Mayfield were appearing at the Metropolitan Opera House. Music connoisseurs of the day were comparing Phillippa's voice to that of Adele Addisong Patricia's, to that of Matiwilda Dobbs 3 and Spencer's to that of William Warfield. Wilbert Bryant, Amos Tillery, and Floyd Malone were running the Three Aces Used Car Lot. Carolyn Williams and Virginia Trower were head captains of the Suffolk Police Force with Rudolph Parker acting as judge of the City Circuit Court. Jacquelyn Chapman was filling out a prescription for Mrs. Tomasina Tillery's Knee Vinesjthird set of twins. Herman Carter and Rudolph Wilkins were the proprietors of the A 8x P Supermarket, Marie Daniels was their bookkeeper. In the field of athletics some members of the class had made lofty advancements. Sylvia Jolly was head basketball coach at Hampton Institute with Anne Boothe and Grace Walters assis- tants. James Lee was head coach at Howard University with Herbert Greene assistant and Algernon Morris trainer. We saw clearly from the posters in Chester's Beauty Shop that the hair styles had changed immensely in ten years. Mildred was showing Sadie Wheeler and Margie Ford the up's and down's of a beauty shop. As the crystal ball gave its last spin, we saw Major Ruffin and Ray Daniels living at Million- aires Row in Buckhorn, Virginia. The last members of the class of '59 to appear were Bernard Boone and Joyce Smith who were running a flirting school in the Dismal Swamp. cf- j ' 1' Prognosticators , Phillippa Estes K v Patricia Williams 1 'A 23
