The job oT engineering was Turned over To RoberT Rodriguez, and assisTing him was John Cullen. Thelma Broolcs handled boTh The posiTions oT Tireman and swiTchman, wiTh Mary BeTh GilleTTe as bralceman. The acTiviTies in The club car, even aT This high level, were much The same, wiTh The Tollowing members OT The Scholarship SocieTy: Roy Wagner, Lyn MacDonald, MareTa LenTz, Peggy STeyer, DoroTha Van Buslcirlc, Luana SmiTh, Nelda Thorson and PaTTi PiTTs. When we needed anyThing Tor our comTorT or were in need oT some suggesTions, we simply Turned To our helpTul porTers, Miss CarpenTer, Miss Lavigne, Mr. T-larper, Mr. Green, and Miss Lochridge. Because we were juniors, we were enTiTled To a liTTle exTra publiciTy, in The Torm oT sTrilcing royal blue sweaTers wiTh a maTching blue and whiTe emblem. Everyone envied us when we made our TirsT appearance in These sTunning biTs oT wearing apparel, and we really TelT ThaT we were near our ulTimaTe desTinaTion, For variaTion during This journey, we decided To puT on a play Tor The oTher classmen and Triends, and aTTer careTul rnediTaTion decided on a Three-acT comedy Don'T Talce My Penn SevenTeen sTudenTs arTici aTed in The la Y' 9 T3 F3 - wiTh our porTer, Miss Lavigne, direcTing us. lT was acclaimed a gre-aT success by all. The Theme, Holland, was exTravaganTly carried ouT under The capable hands oT Passengers Mary BeTh GilleTTe, BeTTy WurTz, John Cullen, Lyn MacDonald, Roy Wagner, and Daryl BrandT. ShouTs oT yahoo-hooray-yippeee-and oTher such exclamaTions echoed Through every car oT The express as The engineer, RoberT Rodriguez, relaTed To us The news ThaT Seniorland was jusT ahead. IT was only a Tew minuTes laTer ThaT he solemnly passed on his highly esTeemed posiTion To Niclc Kelch, wiTh The oTher crewmen passing on Their posiTions in Turn. BeTTy WurTz became assisTanT engineer, BeTTy Miller, Tireman, Barbara Powell, swiTchman, and Peggy STeyer, bralceman, wiTh Miss Lochridge, Miss Oberle, Mr. STauTTacher, and Mr. Bell as porTers. Slowly The Train chugged up The lasT lap oT The journey. DiTch day was behind us as were also The junior-senior play and The Junior-Senior Prom. The club oTTicers and aThleTes had been in a Trenzied Turmoil oT acTiviTy all year. The senior rings, announcemenTs and so TorTh had all been ordered and preparaTions were now being made Tor ThaT momenTous occasion . . . graduaTion. NaTuraIly we were all looking Torward To The liTe aTTer high school-buT Then we were perhaps a TriTle TearTul oT whaT lay beyond and maybe jusT a liTTle sad in leaving The wonderTul, joyous Times behind.
