ERNA enior Cfada .Nidfory In the fall of 1952, 18 Freshmen were initiated into B. H. S. They were Mary Applebee, Jim Bailey, Loretta Bodine, Bob Carsten, Laura Counts, Marge Creekmur, Jean Everson, Janice Haase, Barbara Hines, Ted Hysell, Louise Jensen, Mary Lou Lunn, Carol Peppel, John Smith, Kathleen Spitzenberger, Larry Spitzenberger, Reta Stroh, and Lenard Zeisler. The next day left the number at 17 when Barbara Hines moved to California. Jean Everson dropped out after the first semester leaving 16. Mr. Backus, as sponsor, guided us through the first year. Our Sophomore year found a gain of 3 members, Audrey and Art Kahler and Roger Stroh and the loss of Mary Lou Lunn during the summer. Janice Haase dropped out after the first semester leaving 17 in the class. Mr. Rathbun was our sponsor. Sixteen Juniors reported back for another school year. Ted Hysell did not enroll in September and shortly after Louise Jen- sen left us. Our first money raising project of the year was a vigorous magazine campaign. We were proud of the fact that we went over our goal of S700, a record for Bonesteel High. We also had charge of concessions at football and basketball games. In March we presented the class play TOO MANY DATES. Our Junior-Senior banquet, carrying through the Rainbow theme, was held May 3. Kathleen Spitzenberger and Bob Carsten were Girl's and Boy's State Representatives. During our Junior year we proudly began wearing class rings. Last but not least, came our senior year with a gain of two, Earl Tech and Erna Kahlerg Marge Greekmur had married the preceeding spring. This made a total of nine girls and eight boys. The first big event was initiating the Freshmen. November 22. was the date of the presentation of HILLBILLY WEDDIN', the class play. On our Sneak Day, March 8, we went by chartered bus to Omaha where we enjoyed Ice Capades. The Juniors honor ed us at a banquet April 24. Our class statistic s: Motto: Nothing Great is Lightly Won. .:. Flower: Pink Rose , .25 Colors: Pink and Gray This finds us at the end of our high school career facing the threshold of tomorrow.
