In the fall of 1950 eighteen freshmen started their long career through high school. They were Ray Bendig, Priscilla Frasch, Dorothy Helmberger, Margery Hermsen, Alvera Jons, Coreen Jons, Shirley Kramer, Alvera Moor, Carole Opbroek, Georgia Pepper, Janet Qualm, Deniece Schmitz, Elva Schroeder, Gerald Smith, Cor- een Tarr, and Harley Weidner. Ray Yeigh joined the class the sec- ond semester. The first important event was initiation. Then some of the fresh- man had a wonderful time being waiters and waitresses at the Junior- Senior banquet. Finally came the picnic which brought to a close our freshmen year. When we came back to school in the fall of 1951 we found we had lost Jim Schmitz, who moved to O'Neill, but had gained Dennie Foltz. The most important event was our picnic at the end of the year. We had our first class party this year and several all school parties. Next came the junior year. We lost Ray Bendig, and in Novem- ber Coreen Tarr dropped from our group. In January Georgia Pepper left to attend school in Grand Island. We spent this year working at the football and basketball games to raise money for our Junior-Senior ban- quet. We also sold magazines. Alvera Moor and Coreen Jons were high salesmen. The next important event was our play HERE SHE COMES . During this year we enjoyed several class parties. May 12, the junior class honored the seniors with a banquet - the theme was Moonlight and Roses . Everyone had an enjoyable time. With the annual picnic at Rest Haven, the year came to a successful close. Last but not least we came back to school in the fall of 1953 to fin- ish our last year in Bonesteel High School. Lettie Foster enrolled and continued in school the first semester only, but continued correspond- ence work in Marion. Shirley Kramer also left following the first sem- ester but continued her work by correspondence to meet graduation re- quirements. The first big event of the year was getting out class rings. Then came out play, OUR MISS BROOKS , with everyone in the class taking part. Another exciting event was the initiation of freshmen into high school. During this year we enjoyed several class parties and some all- school parties. On our sneak day, April Z, we went by chartered bus to Omaha. There we enjoyed the Ice Capades, visited points of interest, and finally returned home April 3. The juniors honored the seniors at a banquet on May 4. Our Class Motto- Not at the Top But Climbing. Colors- American Beauty Red and Silver. Flower- American Beauty Rose.
