m Chief Warrant Officer Jerry D. Burleson entered bootcamp and apprenticeship training school on August 1st, 1983. His first tour was on the USS Tuscaloosa (LSI- 1 187). He left the service in July 1987 and entered the reserves. In June 1989 he returned to active duty and reported to NAVET Orlando, Fl. Upon completion of training he was assigned to SIMA San Dieg o in the Riggers Loft and qixalified as SQUIP rigger, dispatcher, and team Leader. In August 1991 he reported to the Mine division 125 in Charleston, South Carolina. His next assignment would be aboard the USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20) Norfolk, VA. In 1992 he was promoted to BMl. December 1993 he was assigned to the USS Tarawa (LHA-1). His next tour would take him to Consolidated Divers Unit, San Diego where he would receive his ESWS Qualification in 1997. In 1998 he is promoted to BMC and transferred to the USS Rushmore (LSD-4 i the following year. March 2001 he received his commission as a Warrent Officer. April 2001 he reported to ACU-5 as OIC where he received his SWO qualification. On January 17th, 2003 he deployed with his unit onboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The ACU-5 Detachment F (foxtrot) Swift Intruders embarks aboard USS Bonhomme Richard. The Landing Craft Air Cushioi (LCAC) which is a high-speed fully amphib- ious landing craft capable of carrying a 60 ton payload of personnel, vehicles and cargo. The LCAC is capable of traveling over land and water exposing 70 percent of the world ' s beaches to amphibious assault compared to 1 7 percent with conventional landing craft. LCAC ' s operate from well deck equipped amphibious ships such as USS Bonhomme Richard.
