The squadron is capable of operations with or as the Joint Force Air Component Commander UFACCQ providing air control and plan- ning in a unified or allied theateriof operation. Helicopters are employed in the movement of combat troops and supplies from the ship to the assault objective area. Fixed wing aircraft provide Close Air Support fCASSj for friendly troops and ensure air superiority over the amphibi- ous forces.
