CCDMMANDER CARRIER DIVISICN SEVEN REAR ADMIRAL JOSEPH M. CARSON REAR ADMIRAL j.M. CARSON, CCD7 Rear Admiral Joseph Malcolm Carson was born in Enniskillen, Ulster County, Ireland on 22 june 1901. He was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1920 from the Seventh District of Virginia. Graduated and commissioned an Ensign on 4 June 1925, he subsequently attained the rank of Rear Admiral on 1 June 1953. He completed flight training at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, in May of 1928. Admiral Carson was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with the Combat HV and cited in part as follows: Por meritorious service as Air Officer and later as Executive Officer of the USS BUNKER HILL during operations against enemy Japanese forces in the Pacific Ccean Area from 25 May 1943 to May 1954 .... H While serving on the Staff of Commander Carrier Division 22, he was awarded the Navy Cross. On 15 March 1957, Admiral Carson assumed his present duty as CCD7. In addition to the Navy Cross, Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal, both with the Combat VM, the Commendation Ribbon and the Ribbon for the Presidental Unit Citation, Admiral Carson has the American Defence Service Medal, Fleet Clasp, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with seven stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one star, the World War 11 Victory Medal, the Korean Service Medal with two stars, the United Nations Ribbon and the Japanese Qccupation Ribbon. Admiral Carson and his wife, the former Miss Evelyn H. Weaver reside in Front Royal, Virginia.

CAPTAIN FRANK B. MILLER CHIEF OF STAFF Captain Miller, a 1930 graduate of the Naval Academy, became a Naval Aviator in 1932 and acted as a pilot and instructor before taking over the command of anti-submarine squardon operating from the East Coast, shortly after the start of World War H. During the war, Captain Miller served as Air Qflficer of the USS PRINCETON and the Exectuive Qfficer on the USS MGNTANA. Then came duty in the Bureau of Crdnance, as Aviation Plans Cfhcer in CTNCPACFLT and in the Strategic Plans Division of the Qflice of Naval Cperations. After a year of study at the Naval War College, he toolc command of the USS PALANCE and later was head of the Department of Strategy and Tactics at the War College. Cn the USS BCXER ICVL-215 Captain Miller was the Commanding Dflicer and later became Chief of Staff for Com Car Div-7. Married to the former Miss Dorothy Darrow Graham, Captain Miller has one son. His home is in Washington D.C., hut his family now resides at Coronado, California.
