Under direction of Wilbur Leonard the High Lights is printed -iqiyh ,High ts THE HlGH LIGHTS of the air! Then follows fifteen minutes of the latest school news, interesting chit-chat, and musical numbers. This radio program, presented by students of Boise High School, has gone on the air over KIDO every Friday since school began. Our school and local radio station were among the pioneers in this activity. Now, many high schools throughout the United States have their own radio programs. The program is affiliated with the school newspaper. t Under the direction of Betty Lou Wells, the program was presented during the first semester with Stanley Burns, lerry Riddle, Gordon Thornburg, Bates Murphy, and Romaine Galey as the announcers. Second semester Romaine Galey was named radio editor. Announcers were Wade Fleetwood, Gordon Thornburg, Bates Murphy, Carl Burke, Terry Riddle, Betty Lou Wells, and Ellis Layne. Script writers were added to the radio staff, too. lunella Sanford and l im Gilmore held the positions. Behind The High Lights are the high school printers. Many an excellent linotypist can point with pride to his initial training in Boise High School under the veteran instruction of Luther Straight and W. G. Lemon. Mr. Lemon left at the end of the first semester to become the principal of a trade school in Laramie, Wyoming. His work was taken over by Wilbur Leonard, a graduate of Boise High. The print shop has its own definite personality. There is always the peculiar smell of printer's ink, the rattling sound of the various machines, the final rush on Friday, and boys busily getting out assignments which can't be turned in a week late. 19 Millard Palmer Ruth Bates Romaine Galey Albert Lcckett Luther Stra glut Ad ertising Manager Managing Editor Radio Editor Adviser Printing Instr i
