,-. 0 6lfLLO'C.4 DICK ARMSTRONG, Vice-president JUDITH HALLSTROM, President VIRGINIA ROBERTSON, Secretary JIM 'Ill-IRAILKILL, Treasurer MANY SENIOR STUDENTS walked away from Boise Hi on that 29th day of May perhaps never to return, as they will take the pathway of their lives to find their places in many distant parts of the world. When the students of this senior class were back in the second and third grades they con- tributed their pennies and nickels to help buy the lot on which the new gym stands, hoping that when they would Finally reach Boise Hi they might have a new gym. But they had been disappointed, for when they entered B.H.S. as freshmen there was only the old gym. Their wish was granted when they moved to the sophomore class, for on that lot which they helped to buy grew the biggest and best constructed high school gym in the state of Idaho. Outstanding among their classmates were: Chris Alexander, student body president, Daniel Archabal, vice-president, Donald Swan, secretary, Judith Hallstrom, senior class president, Dick Armstrong, vice-president, Virginia Robertson, secretary, James Thrailkill, treasurer, Jean Beck, president of the Girls' Athletic association, Lois Malnati, Girls' club president, George Lenfest, Boys' Federation president, Lois Hulser and Bernice Heisner, editors of the HIGH LIGHTS, Jack Perkins, editor of THE COURIERQ John McMahon, major of the R.O.T.C., Anne Winstead, president of the Scarlet Skirts. Dick Armstrong was also president of the B club. The class of '39 has had a very successful career while in Boise Hi, taking an active part in all activities of the school, including sports, dances, assemblies, HIGH LIGHTS, COURIER, music, dramatics, and other school organizations. Stage Door, by Kaufman and Ferber, a three-act play released just this year for amateur production, was the class' final contribution to Boise high school. Presented May 26, it proved successful with a cast of 30 seniors, I9 girls and II boys. The cast was supported by ticket, publicity and properties committees made up of senior students. Elizabeth Walker headed the publicity committee, Rachel Branson, properties, and Cornelia Her- zinger, tickets. Doris Vining as Terry Randall took the girls' lead and Darrell Beetham as Keith Burgess the boys' lead. Senior boys were the mainstays in the field of sports, football, basketball and track being major activities. April I9 was the date for the annual senior dress-up day. A new innovation this year was a tug-o'-War across the lagoon at Julia Davis park between junior and Senior boys. A rope which would stand 9,ooo pounds of strain was used, but broke three times. On the fourth try, with a doubled rope and juniors on the long end, the entire Senior line was dragged across the twenty-three feet of mud and water. Senior sneak day came May 8. This was the Hnal day of fun for the seniors before com- mencement, May 29. ,f
