Nlisses lflorence Miller and l.ottie Canaday came to Boise Hi as exchange teachers from Connecticut and Hawaii respectively. llale and hearty, john Sawyer, dean of the high school faculty, finished ji consecutive years of teaching in Boise Ili. lle has given students words of wisdom in all SI years he has heen teaching. Ten years ago Zed l.. lfoy, our principal, came to us from the K'Sunny South. lle has made it possilwle for many dances, assemlwlies, and athletic competitions to he enjoyed hy the whole student hody. Despite his many activities as principal, Mr. lfoy personally knows almost every person in school. Miss Clara Otness found heing dean of girls, adviser of the Girls' cluh, chairman of the faculty social committee, and taking care of the orderlies a hig gioh. She hecame dean of girls nine years ago. Students thank her now for the school dances, many of which she originated eight years ago. Nlr. Seth T. lfreer can usually he found as master in the early morning detention and noon study groups at study halls. lle has lueen dean of luoys for four years and head of the math department for a numher of years. Students find Mr. lfreer always smiling, willing to take a joke, and ready to help them with their personal prolylems. VVITH 750 Boys to guide through nine months of school affairs, the Boys, federation wound up another year of successful planning with the senior lxoys' banquet May 20. This climaxed a full year's work hy George Lenfest president, Bill Sproat vicespresident, Joe Uheruaga secretary, and Chuck Crowe treasurer. A new activity of the unior and senior lioys was given its start, in the form of a tug- o'-war, sponsored hy the lfederation. Held at Julia Davis lagoon April io, the lxattle was fairly fought with the result heing a draw. The rope hroke three times lmefore the seniors were pulled through the mud and water. However, the juniors were on their way to a good ducking the first three times when the rope broke. The annual Christmas dance was held this year December 17. Chuck Crowe was gen- eral chairman. First on the program was the annual Boise-Nampa rally, which was held previous to the hig foothall game between the two rivals. A Thanksgiving hasket drive for needy families was sponsored hy the group. Fine leadership, good sportsmanship and loyal followers helped to make the year a most successful one for all boys in Boise Hi. X 0315

DAVIS, NIISS IJEBORAH. Head of history and English department, 28 years, campaigned to make every B.H.S. student learn to spell. JEFFREY, Miss RLANCHE. History, 9 years, gardening, used current lfiuropean squabbles to show students rela- tion between past and present. FRY, MR. GUY O. Vocational auto mechanics, 8 years, hunting and fishing, supervised repairing of 125 automo- biles, 50 of which required major operations. PA1NE, Miss CAROL. Home economics, I2 years, as member of Y.VV.C.A. board, helped promote character building among Boise young women and girls. HAYs, MR. ARTHUR. History, IO years, stamp collecting, guided Forum club students in weekly discussions of public problems. Fo1,EFsEN, MR. C. T. Commercial, 3 years, music and literature, spent two months in Kentucky giving civil service examinations. IIUSE, Miss Es'1'HER. Fnglish, IO years, reading and travel, taught world literature, E-14, for lirst time in recent years, it made her read constantly. BERRY, Miss CSRACE. History, 8 years, reading, taught her students to make extensive use of the library. RoB1NsoN, MR. FAY C. Science, 4 years, fishing and golf, guided sophomore class, remodeled house with his own hands, taught three chemistry classes. GRIIJER, MR. F. F. Commercial, 6 years, sports and practical economics, as executive secretary, guided affairs of ldaho State Athletic association. BURGHER, MR. IJARWIN K. Athletics, 4 years, working at home, coached the Braves to championships in football and basketball. CHASE, Soi: FRANK F. R.O.T.C., I2 years, Hower and vegetable growing, rifle shooting, coached faculty rifle team, helped organize and coach girls' rifle team. BOOSINGER, MR. A. Mathematics, I4 years, fishing, taught M-6 four periods in a row . . . and kept his good nat11re. CooPER, MR. HoY'1'. History, IQ years, travel, kept bachelor quarters with Mr. Mickel, did not lose weight. QE17
