As captain of the Senior ship of state, the committee chose Gatschene as the class photographer, picked the class announcements, and supervised the senior assembly which became one of the highlights of the year. The assignment of choosing class colors, motto, and flower was also designated to this organization, which made credit- able selections. The group spent much time planning our unique senior banquet and the activities for that much-anticipated Senior Day. Other big events arranged by them were the preparations for an after-the-prom program, and for a '53 class gift. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP TEAM Boardman's Scholarship Team swept the Mahoning County honors in l953. In the state-wide examinations on Ianuary 31st at South High School, Board- man's senior winners were Richard Baird, first: David Gluck, second: IoAnn Rogers, fourth: Ronald Alexander and Paul Bauschatz, tied for sixth: David Yeager, eighth: and David Hubly, ninth. In addition, Boardman took thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth places and placed every member of its twenty-man team on the honorable mention list. Such an overwhelming victory is a tribute to the fine teaching and high scholastic standards of Boardman.
