Band Increased in umber And Improved Repertoire Entertainment at home ball games and wrestling matches was provided by the BHS band , under the direction of Mr. Larry Temp- lin. This year BHS band partici- pated in the Kansas State College of Pittsburg parade and played at half-time of the football game. They also played at half-time of a BCCIC football game. The band performed for the district grade schools, high school grad- uation, the Christmas concert, and the annual spring pop concert. lt's neat. Our band has really improved. It's more enjoyable and you get to go more places, said Peggy Heame. Several band students went to Indepen- dence for an area band concert. BHS band members attended a jazz festival, held at Iuco in April. The Lion band had the honor of playing at the new school dedication , April 28 Leading the students down town for the homecoming parade , playing at pep rallies and at the bonfire were a few of the 30-40 band performances this year. Mona Boone, a junior, was this gn- F4 year's band majorette. One of her rv an 3 many duties included directing the band at the half-time per- formances. Students who helped Mr. Templin in the organization of' the band were the band officers: Debbie O'Bryan - President, Ken- na King - Vice-President, Judy Keplar - Secretary.
