They also appeared in the Augusta United Fund Parade, Douglass Appreciation Day Parade, and Latham 4th of July Parade. Co-Captaing Kathy Shaffer, Judy Keplar. Hay- Time Interest The Drill Team has grown considerably over the previous number. Membership increased from eight to the current 15, As projects, Drill Team members attended summer camp, fumished concessions at some football games and wrestling matches.

Leon, Pep Club Roared With Spirit The 1972-'73 Pep Club, with sixty-eight members, was busy helping with concessions, attending ballgames and matches, and havincg a lot of fun at the same time. In the summer, Pep lub sold Leon Lion T-shirts and managed three firecracker stands. 'I'he money was used in assisting cheerleaders purchase uniforms. Pep Club also made new uniforms to brighten their spirits. During the summer, a committee, selected three outfits, one to be chosen by a vote by Pep Club mem- bers. Another phase of Pep Club was the spirit-minded cheerleading squad. For the '72-'73 year, a method of selection recommended by student study committee was tried. Ten girls were elected cheerleaders by the students, Each girl who tried out for cheerleader de- signated her choice between basketball and wrestling. The top five were A-team football - Kathy McCoy, Head Chearleader, Debbie Petersen, Diane Proctor, Ava Allen, and Deandra Daniels. These girls attended ICF camp at Lawrence, B-team football-cross country cheerleaders were Rene Lakin, Head Cheerleader, Peggy Ades, Della Cha sak, Vickie Young, and Susan Petersen. Uphezd Motto, In 1972-'73 the Leon FHA organization had a state officer and a district officer in its membership, Debbie Petersen and Gwen Genter. The officers wrote a con- stitution for the local FHA. As projects FHA girls sponsored a program on drug abuse given by the Rock Castle Jayceesg they sold cand- les to raise money, they won second in the district Glidden. THIRD ROW: Tammy Gregory, Lisa Ades, Judy Wedman, Susan Ingalls, Oneda Olinger, Cheryl Woodard, Joyce Bode, Lisa Algrim, Debbie DeMoss. To Dare Is to Care Display Contest with a booth illustrating the objectives of FHA. In addition they held a Christmas dance De- cember 22, with the theme Merry Christmas, Darling and an annual soup supper at the last home football game.
