Leon, Pep Club Roared With Spirit The 1972-'73 Pep Club, with sixty-eight members, was busy helping with concessions, attending ballgames and matches, and havincg a lot of fun at the same time. In the summer, Pep lub sold Leon Lion T-shirts and managed three firecracker stands. 'I'he money was used in assisting cheerleaders purchase uniforms. Pep Club also made new uniforms to brighten their spirits. During the summer, a committee, selected three outfits, one to be chosen by a vote by Pep Club mem- bers. Another phase of Pep Club was the spirit-minded cheerleading squad. For the '72-'73 year, a method of selection recommended by student study committee was tried. Ten girls were elected cheerleaders by the students, Each girl who tried out for cheerleader de- signated her choice between basketball and wrestling. The top five were A-team football - Kathy McCoy, Head Chearleader, Debbie Petersen, Diane Proctor, Ava Allen, and Deandra Daniels. These girls attended ICF camp at Lawrence, B-team football-cross country cheerleaders were Rene Lakin, Head Cheerleader, Peggy Ades, Della Cha sak, Vickie Young, and Susan Petersen.
