72 - Season of Ups and Downs The 1972-'73 Football season was one of extreme ups and downs with the boys in blue and gold winning five and losing four. They finished the season with a 5-2 league record and a 13-8 overall record. The boys went into the Regional Tourna- ment with a first place District trophy and high hopes of advancing into the State, but their hopes were deflated when Halstead downed the Lions in the first game. After the season, the SCKL coacnes selected the top ten league performers. Three Leon boys were chosen for these honors. They were Se- niors , Sam Seward and Gene Calvin and Junior, Junior Calvin.
