The annual Homecoming Festivities were the highlight of the fall season as usual. Blue Valley won the football game against Bonner Springs on October 24. At halftime, the 1980 Homecoming Royalty was presented. Student Council changed the procedings a little this year. There were five Homecoming Queen candidates this year, and they (along with the Class Princesses) were escorted onto the field by their fathers or a friend of the family. Desira Coleman was crowned 1980 Homecoming Queen. She and her court were presented once again at the dance the next night.

The Blue Valley Debate Team was one of the smallest in the EKL League, but the mightiest. They consistently placed among the top three schools at every tournament they went to. Next year Blue Valley hopes to have a larger team (some of our neighboring schools have over one hundred members in debate). But big or small, this year’s team couldn’t have done much better!
