SENIOR C LASS PROPHECY Now, wait a minute, students! Let's hear about the lives of the members of the Class of '49 and maybe you will understand why I want to go back to my dear ole Alma Mater. Remember nice, quiet and definitely dignified Earl Morrison. Well, Earl is now president of Spio's First National Bank. He is smoking fifty cent cigars and driving a nice, new Cadillac to his home, only twelve feet from the bank. Rosie Lee Strickland was always active in school functions and was very dramatic. She has realized a lifelong ambition to act on the stage and screen. Rosie Lee will take a plane in early june to replace Minnie Pearl in the motion picture The Adorable In'1p . She expects her fiance, Clark Gable, to join her in the film colony. Mr. Gable has been visiting her family at Tyler's store. - As a child Hugh Gardner had dreams of becoming a sailor. Never did he realize that he would become such an important sailor. Admiral Gardner is now home on leave after confering with the President in Washington. His braid was so heavy when he arrived that it took four mule tearns to bring it from the station. Theresa Williams was always popular with the boys and during schooldays there were many predictions that she would be the first bride oi our class. Theresa is now an old maid school teacher. She has gotten grey worrying over which of her many beaus to marry. I noticed in a Washington newspaper a few days ago that our former class- mate, Gwendolm Beaty, was doing quite well in politics. During her Senior year in school Gwen was President of the Student Council and today she is secretary to the secretary of the Washington dog catcher. Blue Springs Wins Another Ballgamei And well that it should, as none other than our own Roland Thorne is the coach there this year. The only trouble he seems to be having, is with the basketball teamg they all insist on calling him Papa , The team is composed of Roland's five sons. Remember how we all used to dread those hateful old blood tests. This year Margaret jewel Morrison is State Health nurse and seems to get fiend- ish pleasure out of drawing blood from all her old schoolmates. Ruth Henderson is another of the members of the '49 class interested in politics. She is representative from Barbour County in the state legislature. At the present time Ruth is fighting for a law in which women may ask a man to marry her rather than the old outmoded way. 9

SENIOR CLASS WILL We, the Class of 1949, in the town of Blue Springs, the County of Barbour, and the State of Alabama, being in as good mental condition as usual, and in much better temper than usual, do hereby make this our last will and testament. In this manner we dispose of our posses- sions: ' GWENDOLYN BEATY leaves her ability to make twelve grades in eleven years to Don Littlefield. Don, at least you must try to make it in twelve years. HUGH GARDNER leaves his height to Ludie Fralish. You had better get started, Ludie. RUTH HENDERSON leaves her 'lcurly hair to Sylvia Pitts. Now, you may toss away those curlers. MARGARET JEWEL MORRISON gives to Maggie Lou Walker her rornance with Wendell Brown. Good luck, Maggie. EARL MORRISON leaves his quietness to Reggie Parr. Reggie can certainly use some. ROSIE LEE STRICKLAND leaves her eye-catching figure to Peggy English. She certainly can't afford to miss a day eating in the lunch room. ROLAND THORNE gives to Howell Wilkinson his way with the women. Don't be bashful, Howell, for you must carry on. THERESA WILLIAMS leaves her Hflirtatious ability to Hilda I-lelms. Slow down, Hilda, if you want to be the success that Theresa is. 8
